Ready for Winter 2017

Winter is coming...

A. C. Bacon Engineering have completed the build of a new 10 tonne General Purpose Agricultural Building in Pettistree, ready for the winter of 2017.

In April of last year A. C. Bacon Engineering Ltd were contacted by Thurlow Nunn Standen Ltd to design and erect a new General Purpose Agricultural Building in Pettistree, Woodbridge, Suffolk.

The unit consists of:

·         7№ portal frames at 4800mm centres. In total the unit is 15.8m wide x 28.8m long x 6m eaves (overall stanchions)

·         Total Floor Area = 455m²

·         Composite Roof sheeting comprises of Kingspan KS1000RW 60mm thick insulation core in the colour ‘Merlin Grey’. Along with 12№ factory assembled, triple skin GRP roof lights, which cover approximately 15% of the roof area

·         Composite Wall cladding comprises of Kingspan KS1000RW 60mm thick insulation core in the colour ‘Vandyke Brown’.

·         Brick Cladding starting from FFL up to 2.175m  AFFL on southern side of unit

·         3№ Main Access Doors. Two of which are 5m x 4.2m and can be found on the southern side. The third one is located on the western side of the building and is 5m x 4.627m. Unlike the other MAD’s, this one has a ‘wicket’ door incorporated within it.

A wicket door allows access through a closed roller shutter when there is no other way to enter.

·         Two personnel doors at the standard size of 0.9m x 2.1m

Works commenced on site at the beginning of August 2017 and was completed a couple months later in October 2017, ready for winter.

The client said that he was ‘very happy’ with how the project was handled and the manor in how the unit was erected.
