Another Grain Store completed...

A. C. Bacon Engineering were contacted by P. C. Garrod & Son of Little Blakenham, Suffolk during November 2012 with a view to supply and erecting a grain store ready for harvest in 2013. During initial discussions it was clear that the site which Mr Garrod had selected was not optimum for the required building. Using our expertise we determined the eventual build site and layout which would be most beneficial for Mr Garrod’s grain storage solution, plus enhancement of farm yard operations.

The site itself was not without its challenges; a distinct slope along the length of the building was overcome by early involvement and a close working relationship with ground workers JK Construction.

Planning permission was submitted by A. C. Bacon on behalf of Mr Garrod in early January 2013 and subsequently granted on 31st January 2013 with no conditions.

Works commenced on site at the beginning of March 2013. Meticulous co-ordination between Mr Garrod, JK Construction and A. C. Bacon resulted in the finished project being handed over thirteen weeks after breaking ground.

Mr Garrod described his experience of working with A C Bacon as “good all around”, he further commented that “the advice received in relation to the position of the building was excellent and now that the building is complete it shows that this was the right place for it. It still leaves us with the opportunity to use the original site in the future should we need to.”
