Academy On Course

First Phase Teaching Block progresses…

A. C. Bacon Engineering limited have been contracted by Kier Eastern to provide 700 tonnes of Structural Steelwork for the new Stanground Academy, Peterborough.

The 1st phase provides 600 tonnes of beam and column type steelwork to a large two-storey Teaching Block; the 2nd phase will follow later in 2012 consisting of a Sports Block with Swimming Pool, Activity, Fitness and Changing areas.

The new Stanground Academy is one of the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust Group of Academies and will provide education for 1800 pupils; and currently operates in the existing buildings of the former Stanground College.

A major capital building programme costing £24m will provide 'state of the art' buildings and facilities for pupils and staff and these fantastic new buildings will be completed by September 2013 providing high quality academic, vocational and sports facilities.

The Stanground Academy serves the local community with pupils living closest to the new buildings having priority for places.
